What is supervision?
Supervision is a structured and collaborative space created between supervisor and supervisee, built on trust and respect. There’s a strong emphasis on reflection, self-enquiry, accountability, and learning from experiences. Supervision supports you to develop your professional knowledge and skills to deliver safe, high-quality care for your clients.
Supervision provides space for you to discuss clinical and non-clinical things such as:
- Clinical decision making and treatment planning eg. how to proceed when feeling “stuck”
- Professional boundaries and ethical dilemmas
- Working with multidisciplinary teams
- Time management, workload, and administrative pressures
- Professional development
- Self-care as a clinician
- Operating a private practice

A little bit about my experience
I’ve successfully established and run two private dietetic practices since completing my dietetics degree in 2012. I sold my previous practice prior to taking a career break to have children and I’ve operated my current practice since 2020. Alongside my client work, I’ve enjoyed mentoring newly-graduated dietitians as part of the Provisional APD Program with Dietitians Australia.
As well as operating my current practice, I’m employed as a casual academic at Curtin University, where I teach dietetic students and medicine students about weight stigma, weight-neutral healthcare, and the Non-Diet Approach. The Non-Diet Approach is a framework for dietitians to reject diet culture and offer weight-neutral, size-inclusive nutrition care to clients. Dr Fiona Willer has a terrific online course on the Non-Diet Approach available here
What I bring to supervision
I I understand the challenges of working in private practice, especially as the practice owner. I also know how isolating it can feel to be a non-diet, size-inclusive nutrition professional in a predominantly weight-centric industry that normalises diet culture. I bring this understanding and my own knowledge and experiential learning into my work as a supervisor.
My approach is non-judgmental, empathetic, and curious. I’m intentional about creating a safe and supportive space for you to grow as a clinician in the direction that support your career goals. I undertake supervision myself, so you benefit not only from my support, but the support of my supervisor.
